At the heart of
Akhnaton's library educational program is the retrieval of information to assist students in completing assigned projects or address independent studies. Projects and research provisions are made from periodicals, biographies, fiction , reference materials and other collections in the library. Four computers are available for students and each has access to the internet.
Step one / Study:
The school provides library and media resources that adequately support the educational offerings.
• The media center is sufficiently large to accommodate the needs of the school.
• The library is able to accommodate the present number of students and staff . In the library there is a reading area for 20 people.
• There are 4 computers for the students and staff with a network and internet access. The library is also provided with an electronic print board.
• There is another electronic board and a projector in the Library annex ( Lecture Hall )
• The owner allocated a large sum of L.E to initiate a new library for the year 2004 – 2005.
Students and staff have regular access to library media services , materials , and equipment.
• The librarian purchases newspapers and magazines in English. The library aide keeps periodicals and stores old periodicals in the library collection. The librarian concentrated on building up the fiction and non-fiction.
• The library is open during school hours : 8am – 3pm. Students may use the library during recesses and lunch breaks. They may also use the library during study hall. Staff may use the library and the library computers whenever they need.
